Second Grade Stories Inspired by Ryan T. Higgins

Ryan T. Higgins recently visited our school and met with the first and second graders. His visit made a huge impact.

I decided to have the students practice his morning warm up routine: choose three animals and draw some combination of the three. Follow this by naming the new creature and creating a setting, etc. Take a look at what they have created thus far!

The students will be recording their stories during our next class. I can't wait! Thanks for the inspiration, Ryan!

Kindergartners practice writing with the five senses.

The kindergarten students have been learning about writing with the five senses.  This week, they shared things that they saw, heard, felt, smelled, and tasted over vacation. It's pretty amazing.
