Second Grade Poets Use Their Five Senses to Write Poems

The second graders prepared for Poem in Your Pocket Day by exploring what it means to write with your five senses. They also explored different forms of poetry. This project included: brainstorming a topic for a poem; identifying the senses they would use to help the reader understand the topic; choosing a poetic form; creating a draft; and, then the producing the final product.

I created this template to guide them:
What follows are their finished poems about nature, games, animals, and more! I love their freedom, confidence and creativity.
